Amanda’s in the swim for charity
Amanda Jones is not one to do things by halves when it comes to raising funds for charity.
She has set herself the task of swimming five kilometres - just over three miles - in under two-and-a-half hours.
And that has meant for Amanda, a team leader in the customer support team at BHSF, swimming at least two miles twice a week in training.
Amanda, from Harborne in Birmingham, is taking part in Swimathon 2009, the world’s biggest fundraising swim, to raise cash through sponsorship for the new West Midlands hospice for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
She is gearing herself up for her own particular challenge on April 18 at Haden Hill Leisure Centre, Old Hill.
She said: “This is a really worthwhile cause which provides people suffering with cancer with the much needed support they require as well as specialist nursing care.
“It’s been really hard work but I know I can do it and will be focused on the funds I will be raising to help those suffering from cancer”.
