Stourbridge school gets down to business

A five-month initiative to boost the working relationships between business and local schools has resulted in the production of a promotional video for a Birmingham-based company by a Stourbridge specialist language college.

As part of the CBI’s ‘Business in the Classroom’ project Redhill School pupils conducted Skype and one-to-one interviews with staff from nationwide healthcare insurer BHSF.

The pupils filmed and edited the interviews for the promotional video and created a short animation for it often during their lunch-times at school.

The pupils then made a presentation of the finished product to BHSF chief executive Peter Maskell and fellow director David Nuttall.

Peter Maskell said: “One of the aims of the CBI initiative is to increase young people’s knowledge of the workplace and improve employability skills.

“It was obvious from the video that after overcoming some of the technological barriers the pupils had gained a great understanding of the business.

“It was clear from the presentation that producing the video from start to finish had been a beneficial learning journey and I hope the activities involved have provided the students with experiences that will help them to prosper in their early careers”.
