BHSF Flexes Plan4Life

Enabling policyholders to claim cash on diagnosis of cancer

A new cancer healthcare plan introduced by nationwide insurer BHSF, is now so popular that it is being made available in corporate flexible benefit policies.

High interest in the Plan4Life cancer cover has come it features lump sum cash payment on diagnosis of cancer which employees can spend as they choose as well as the underwriting practice of ignoring any previous family history of cancer which means the policy is available to a number of people who were excluded previously.

Brian Hall, sales and marketing director at BHSF, said: “The new cancer plan is proving very popular with employees and it is important that we ensure all our corporate clients are able to offer the plan should they choose.

“Our client organisations are increasingly using flexible benefit platforms to deliver their employee benefits and so we have taken steps to make the product flex-compatible.

“The unique nature of the product is also opening new opportunities for us with organisations who have not previously been clients taking on the plan as a stand-alone benefit.

“We have had a number of flex benefit platform providers approach us to include the plan within their offering.”

The plan’s simplicity and low cost has also contributed to its popularity.

On a broader basis BHSF has beneficial flex experience after being a supplier of health cash plans from the earliest days of flex platforms and more recently as a result of their move to supply personal accident benefits to the flex, voluntary and group markets.

Hall said: “As the popularity of flexible benefits continues to grow among employers and especially among SMEs it will be interesting to see how this new product provision adds to employee choice.

“ There is still much more to come from the team at BHSF in this growing market.  We have some new ideas on existing themes as well as a number of innovations which we believe will be fresh to the market.

“We have spent a considerable amount of time taking soundings from our intermediary supporters and our client base and are now working to make best use of that feedback.”
