BHSF CEO voted Director of the Year

Peter Maskell, centre, receives the ‘Director of the Year’ award

A Solihull man has become West Midlands ‘Director of the Year’ at the annual Institute of Directors awards ceremony held at Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

Peter Maskell, chief executive of BHSF Group Ltd, the Birmingham-based healthcare insurer and employee benefits provider, received the accolade after first being announced as ‘SME Director of the Year’.

Peter receives return flights from Birmingham to Guernsey sponsored by Flybe and a three night stay sponsored by the St Pierre Park Hotel.

The SME award was sponsored by Chiltern Railways and handed to Peter by managing director Rob Brighouse and the the trophy was specially commissioned from Gwenael Prost, a student at the University of Wolverhampton which sponsored the awards ceremony.

Peter joined BHSF 13 years ago after 33 years with Britannic Assurance where he was general manager, and transformed the company from a two-product health cash plan insurer into an award-winning group providing health, accident and personal cancer insurances, a range of employee benefits and a portfolio of HR support services.

Today BHSF insures 400,000 people, mainly through 3,000 client businesses.

Peter believes strongly that successful businesses should put something back into society and as a result BHSF provides financial and volunteer support to seven corporate social responsibility partners and is a high-profile supporter of community projects.
