Plan4Life Cancer Cover
Further information
Choose from the following list below to view illustrative scenarios that may not relate to actual policyholders. These serve to illustrate the benefits of Plan4Life.
Recurrence of cancer
Brenda, 47, took out her Plan4Life Cancer Cover policy three years ago. She previously had localised breast cancer when she was 37, and had surgery on her left breast. Brenda has just been to the doctor with a lump in her right breast and is concerned that this might be a recurrence of breast cancer. Is Brenda eligible to claim?
If this is a recurrence of breast cancer it will be excluded, because it has been identified in the same organ system as the original diagnosis. No payment will be made but Brenda will still have access to the Plan4Life Cancer Cover GP helpline and counselling support service.
Childhood leukaemia
Sally was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukaemia at the age of 4 and was happily cured of the disease. At 28 she noticed a breast lump and following a mammogram (scan) and a biopsy this was confirmed as being malignant neoplasm of the breast. Sally claimed on her Plan4Life policy.
The fact that Sally had childhood leukaemia was not at all relevant to her claim as it was a completely unrelated cancer. Sally had a level 2 plan and so the full amount of £10,000 was payable for this diagnosis of malignant cancer.
Someone to talk to
John lost his wife to cancer and was struggling to come to terms with her death. Through the counselling support service, John was able to speak with a personal nurse adviser who encouraged him to talk about his wife's death and to express his sadness freely.
John felt unable to talk to his family about how he was feeling. The nurse and John identified that a course of bereavement counselling would be of benefit and it was quickly arranged. The nurse has continued to support John throughout his journey.
