Corporate Responsibility

To make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the people we reach.

Our commitment

We have a strong commitment to being a responsible organisation, not just because it’s good for our business and our community but because we know it's the right thing to do. So, whether we’re reaching out to our employees, customers, partners, communities or the wider society, we do so with a clear understanding of our purpose: “To make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the people we reach.”

Donations to our charity partner

We support charities through a variety of methods. These include company wide money raising activities, cash matching of staff fund raising and by volunteering our time and skills. In 2022, BHSF employees gave their time and raised more than £13,000 for charities to raise awareness and support our charity partners. The BHSF Group donated £27,300 by gift aid during 2022.

Community partnerships

We think it’s important to remember where we have come from. We’ll never forget our roots and the impact we have had on our local communities. That’s why we still engage with the people around us. We work with our communities, reviewing our activity regularly to make sure we’re making a real difference. We don’t just support them with money, we also donate our time and help with events and activities.

Creating a more sustainable workplace

We seek to make a positive impact on the environment and the planet through initiatives and projects designed to reduce any damaging effects of our business. During 2022, we continued taking steps toward improving our impact on the environment, including:

  • Making permanent the hybrid home/office working model for all suitable roles, removing the need for thousands of commutes each year.
  • Maintaining an investment portfolio focused on environmental, social and governance (ESG )matters.
  • Investing in support for the delivery of the ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS) standard due to be delivered in 2023.
  • Promoting paperless reporting and MI systems across the Group, with further investment planned in 2023.
  • Reducing our energy consumption from 237,189 in 2021, to 81,092 in 2022 by moving into smaller, newer premises and embracing a hybrid-working model.

BHSF Medical Charity and Welfare Trust

Established in 1972, the Trust born from BHSF supports charitable organisations that help people in need. The Trust not only funds patient amenities in local hospitals and medical charities, but also medical research, education, and science.

Our ethical policy

  • In every aspect of our operations, we adhere to a set of core values and approaches that guide our business practices.
  • We understand our responsibilities to all those we engage with – customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, and the broader community.
  • Our reputation and the trust of our stakeholders are paramount to us.

  • As responsible corporate citizens, we are committed to serving the community by delivering products and services efficiently and profitably, while also providing excellent employment opportunities and conditions.
  • We have an ethical responsibility to limit our environmental impact and to drive an environmentally conscious culture.
